How Did I Get Here?

Do you ever look at your life and ask yourself this question?

Don’t get me wrong, I have a wonderful life. I’m happily married to my best friend, a mom to truly the sweetest little boy (ask anyone), and I’m surrounded by friends and family who support me in everything I do.

But somewhere along the way, I feel like I lost something.

Somewhere between early mornings with a toddler, 40-hour workweeks that often stretched to 50–60 hours, and the routine of everyday life, the version of me who was always chasing a new idea or hobby slowly got quieter.

I know I’m not in my teens or twenties anymore, but I used to have so many more interests and hobbies. I can remember running or working out every day, learning calligraphy, diving head-first into pastry arts (and even earning a degree in it!), and walking into every room with complete confidence because I loved who I was, so why wouldn’t anyone else?

Over the past five or six years, I’ve felt stuck.

Not stuck in a life I didn’t want or pray for, just stuck in the day-to-day. Not being able to see ahead or even dream. I can’t tell you exactly why this shift happened, age, the slower rhythm of marriage and kids, a toxic job (story for another time), or simply a lack of desire to grow. But I do know that I don’t want to feel this way anymore.

I want to feel inspired again.

To do more, learn more, and become more.

To one day look back and ask myself this same question, but in a completely different way. Not from confusion or longing, but from gratitude and pride for the life I’ve created and the passions I’ve pursued.

And that’s what this brand is about.

Rose Home Edit is my space to rediscover the things that inspire me: home, creativity, hosting, baking, and the everyday moments that make life feel full again.

If you’ve ever felt a little stuck too, I hope this space inspires you to reconnect with what you’ve lost, and to dream for what’s ahead.

Oh, Hello!

Here I am—finally starting a project that I’m truly passionate about. It’s been a while.

The past few years have felt like chaos and slow motion all at the same time. I married my best—and most handsome—friend, found what I thought was my dream job, moved to Oklahoma for a year and then back to Charlotte, bought a house, had a baby, and eventually realized that my “dream job” wasn’t quite what I thought it would be.

And now here I am.

Feeling incredibly thankful for the past seven years, but also ready to expand myself in new ways.

If you know me, you know that I originally thought I’d become a master pastry chef at some fabulous resort. But it turns out that industry can be a little unbalanced when it comes to work and personal life. So I found a career path that fit me better—but I never lost my love for baking.

That love turned into my own home bakery: Sweet Sursy. The name may sound a little unusual, but it’s actually an ode to my childhood (more on that later).

Then I became a mom—through some trying times—and I dove head-first into that role. Along the way, I also found myself reorganizing and redecorating our home to better fit our growing family and our changing lives.

Hello DIY projects and interior decorating…which, it turns out, I absolutely love.

Thankfully I also have an amazing husband—did I mention he’s handsome?—who constantly encourages me to be the entrepreneur he knows I am. While he works hard to support our family and make the life we have possible, he also supports me in starting new and exciting projects like this one.

Which brings us here.

Rose Home Edit

I wanted a space to share ideas, products I love, and of course the occasional sweet treat with everyone I know.

That’s what Rose Home Edit is all about.

I’m not an influencer by any means, but I do hope to impact the people around me in a positive way. Over the past several years I’ve learned a lot through different seasons of life, and I’ve found little things that make everyday life easier, more beautiful, and more fun.

And honestly—don’t we all want a little more of that?

For now, Rose Home Edit will focus on three main things:

Journal entries like this one, along with home, family, and lifestyle inspiration.
The Print Shop
A collection of thoughtfully designed printables, including recipe collections, home systems, planners, templates, and simple tools for everyday living.
Yumminess
My Sweet Sursy bakery featuring baked goods, recipes, and eventually a way to order treats directly from me.

This space is really about growing my passions and sharing them along the way.

When I first had this idea, I actually thought about keeping it completely separate from my personal social media. Which is funny when you think about it—why would we hide the things that excite us from the people who know us best?

No hiding here.

My people know me and love me, and I hope you will too.
